Real Scenes: Detroit
Finally got around to watching this all the way through. 18 minutes is too long to watch on your laptop… the A.D.D. starts to creep in. Overall, pretty well done. Ruin porn at the beginning, so it takes on that quality of every other video about Detroit (boring).
However, at about 11:38, it gets into Mike Huckaby and the Youthville program. Basically an after school workshop where you learn the fundamentals of music production. Wish I had this as a kid. Definitely necessary, not only in Detroit, but everywhere. Young people need this kind of exposure as early as possible. If this was a nationwide program, I think we’d have a new music renaissance in our future.
